Every surgical case is approached with a detailed pre-operative consultation to ensure appropriate planning and client communication. Post-operative care is closely managed with individualized treatment protocols, and many patients transition directly into our in-house rehabilitation program to support a full and efficient recovery.

Meet Our Surgeons

Dr. CJ Caniglia

DVM, DACVS-LA

Originally from southern Maryland, Dr. Caniglia is proud to continue serving the local equine community through his surgical and referral work. After earning his veterinary degree from North Carolina State University, he pursued advanced surgical training through an internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital and a residency with rotations at the University of Tennessee, Woodford Equine Hospital, and Palm Beach Equine Clinic.

Board-certified in Large Animal Surgery since 2017, Dr. Caniglia brings a strong background in both sports medicine and complex surgical procedures. He has particular clinical interest in equine spinal surgery, navicular bursoscopy, sinus surgery, and abdominal exploration.

Dr. Caniglia consults weekly at Foxhall Equine, where he provides surgical services and collaborative care as part of our extended veterinary team. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his family and riding his young horse in the Young Horse Show Series.

Dr. Jarrod Younkin

DVM, DACVS-LA

Dr. Younkin is a board-certified equine surgeon with a strong focus on orthopedic surgery, soft tissue procedures, and lameness in performance horses. He earned his veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, followed by two internships and a surgical residency at Kansas State University.

After completing his residency, Dr. Younkin served as a surgeon at Brown Equine Hospital in Pennsylvania from 2018 to 2020. He then joined Piedmont Equine Associates in Georgia.

Dr. Younkin is a valued part of the Foxhall Equine team, consulting weekly on-site to provide advanced surgical care and lameness diagnostics. His case-focused approach and expertise in performance horse medicine make him an integral contributor to our collaborative care model.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Younkin enjoys spending time with his family and staying involved in the equine community.
